Assembling Instructions

CATIA
requires some assembly, but the high standard of prefabrication make this a breeze.
These instructions are kept to a minimum, since most flyers will may choose to install equipment
in their own tried and tested way. (Pic. 1)
PARTS LIST (Pic. 2):
WING ENDS - composed of a carbon/balsa “D” box, covered with ORACOVER, plus
a carbon spar and joiner.
FLAPERONS are complete and hinged.
STABILIZER - a carbon/balsa design covered with ORACOVER. The elevator is complete
and hinged.

FUSELAGE (composed of two parts) |
- a laminated carbon fuselage.
- a high tech carbon Tail Boom |
FIN - a carbon/balsa design covered with ORACOVER. The rudder is complete and hinged.
ACCESSORY PACK - servo covering plates, screws, metal plug pushrods and plastic horns.
Parts not included: R/C equipment.

Catia Tailboom mounting.

Mount main wing assembly to fuzelage before instalation of tailboom (illustration 5).
Block up wing tips from work surface equally then tailboom/fin/stabilizer in correct
orientation to main wing assembly.
Servos installation.
Flaperons.
Cut out slots in the flaperons for the plastic horns and CA them in place (illustration 6).

Mount the servos into th wing and epoxy in place. Adjust the length of the flaperon pushrods,
bend as shown in illustration 7. Connect the servos with the pushrods to the flaperons.
The servos may now be covered by taping the servo covers in place, again noting a right and
a left cover.

Elevator and Rudder.
Mount the elevator and the rudder servo into the
fuselage pod so that the axis of servos coicided with
an axis of fuselage pod. You will need a balsa sheet
2-3 mm thick. See illustration 8. Cut the servos horns
to minimum. Epoxy servos in place.

Cut out slots in the elevator/rudder for the plastic horns and CA them in place, see illustration 9.
Mount the stabiliser to the tail boom.
Connect the servos with kevlar strings through plastic pipers to the rudder/elevator.

Center of Gravity.
The location of the CG is approximately 55-65 mm back of the leading edge of the wing.
The CG location can be regulated by weght ballast, as per illustration 10.
