Assembling Instructions

ALTO requires some assembly, but the high standard of prefabrication make this a breeze. These instructions are kept to a minimum, since most flyers will may choose to install equipment in their own tried and tested way. (Pic. 2)

PARTS LIST:


CENTRAL WING PANEL - composed of a carbon/balsa “D” box, covered with ORACOVER, plus a carbon spar.
WING TIPS - composed of a carbon/balsa “D” box, covered with ORACOVER, plus a carbon spar and joiners.
FLAPS and AILERONS are complete and hinged.
STABILIZER - a carbon/balsa design covered with ORACOVER. The elevator is complete and hinged.
FIN - a carbon/balsa design covered with ORACOVER. The rudder is complete and hinged.
FUSELAGE
(composed of two parts)
- a laminated carbon fuselage.
- a high tech carbon Tail Boom
ACCESSORY PACK - servo covering plates, screws, metal plug pushrods and plastic horns.
ADDITIONAL EQUIPMENT ( ordered separately): tow hook, ballast tube.
Parts not included: R/C equipment.



Recommended equipment:

Battery pack

4 cells 600 NiCa or NiMH.

Servo

4 x 9 mm, 1,5 kg (B109 SUPER PIKO by PROTECH or
MTCFX200 by MEGATECH) for flaps and ailerons
2 x 11mm, 1,3 kg ( DS 281 by JR) for elevator and rudder.

Receiver

JETI REX 5 PLUS or similar.

Servo mount.

Aileron/flap.

Cut out slots in the aileron/flap for the plastic horns and CA them in place (illustration 5).



Mount the servos into the wing and epoxy in place. Adjust the length of the aileron/flap pushrods, bend as shown in illustration 6. Connect the servos with the pushrods to the aileron/flap. The servos may now be covered by taping the servo covers in place, again noting a right and a left cover.


Elevator/ Rudder.

Mount the servos into the fuselage and epoxy in place, as per illustration 7. You will need a balsa sheet 2-3 mm thick.
Cut out slots in the elevator/rudder for the plastic horns and CA them in place, see illustration 5. Mount the stabiliser to the tail boom.
Connect the servos with the bowden pushrods to the rudder/elevator.



Tow hook and ballast tube. (If you need)

Drill the needful size holes in the fuselage for the tow hook and the ballast tube, as per illustration 8. Disassemble the tow hook and epoxy unit in place. Screw the tow hook after the epoxy polymerization. Adjust the ballast tube to the fuselage. Sand the gluing points by the sanded paper and epoxy tube in place, see illustration 8.



Center of Gravity.

The location of the CG is approximately 55-65 mm back of the leading edge of the wing. The CG location can be regulated by weght ballast, as per illustration 9.



Recommended Control Travel:

Ailerons

Take off and landing + 5 mm / - 5 mm
Glide + 3...4 mm/ - 3...4 mm

Elevator

+ 3 mm / - 3 mm

Flaps

Take off - 3..5 mm. Glide 0-3 mm.
Landing - Full down

Tape down all removable parts before flying!
